Wave

This module allows you to select the base waveform for the sound effect. The waveform is the fundamental shape of the sound wave, which determines its basic tonal characteristics.

Waveform Types

SFXCreator provides several types of waveforms to choose from. Each wave presents different characteristics and can be used to create various sound effects. Different waveforms provide different harmonic content and timbral qualities, making them suitable for different types of sounds.

There are 3 types of waveforms available:

  • Soft waves: These waveforms have smoother transitions and are generally more musical. They are suitable for melodic sounds and softer effects.
  • Hard waves: These waveforms have sharper transitions and more pronounced harmonics. They are ideal for creating aggressive or percussive sounds.
  • Noise waves: These waveforms generate random or pseudo-random signals, useful for creating effects like wind, explosions, or other non-tonal sounds.

Example usage

  • Use Sine or Whistle waveforms for pure tones, such as beeps or alarms
  • Try Tangent and Square waveforms for lasers and sci-fi sounds
  • The Triangle and Saw are great for crating 8-bit style sounds and chiptune effects like jumping
  • The White noise is perfect for explosions, impacts. You can also use it for wind or ocean sounds by increasing frequency and removing low frequencies with Equalizer module
  • Low frequency White Noise or Pink Noise can be used to create rumble or fire effects
  • Use Brown Noise for rocket-like sounds or deep underwater effects

INFO

Some waveforms may sound very similar to each other if you are not using effects or modulation. For example, Sine and Whistle waveforms can sound quite alike without additional processing. Make sure to experiment with different waveforms and effects to find the perfect sound for your needs!
