Frequency ramp
Frequency ramp module allows you to set the frequency of the sound over time. Lower frequencies sound deeper and bassier, while higher frequencies sound sharper and more piercing. It is your base tool for shaping your sound.

Parameters
- Type: Type of frequency ramp. Choose between Basic and Custom Curve.
- Frequency: Base frequency value in Hertz (Hz). This is the starting frequency of the sound.
- Speed: Change in frequency over time in Hertz per second (Hz/s). Positive values will increase the frequency over time, while negative values will decrease it.
- Acceleration: Change in speed over time in Hertz per second squared (Hz/s²). Positive values will increase the speed of frequency change over time, while negative values will decrease it.
- Jerk: Change in acceleration over time in Hertz per second cubed (Hz/s³). Positive values will increase the acceleration of frequency change over time, while negative values will decrease it.
- Custom Curve: (only for Custom Curve type) Animation curve that defines how the frequency changes over time. The curve's X-axis represents normalized time (0 to 1), and the Y-axis represents the frequency multiplier.
INFO
Please note that SFXCreator do not use real frequency values directly. Human ear perceives frequency logarithmically, so SFXCreator maps frequency values to a range of 0 to 1 logarithmically from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. This makes it easier to work with frequency values in sound design.
Example usage
Use the module to shape the frequency of the sound over time:
- Use low frequency values for bass sounds, growls, rumbles, explosions
- Use high frequency value for beeps, lasers, chimes, whistles
- Use falling frequencies to create descending sounds like explosions, lasers, impacts, etc.
- Use rising frequencies to create ascending sounds like powerups, pickups, etc.
INFO
Definitely experiment with dynamic frequency ramps! They can add a lot of character to your sounds. For example, try using high starting frequency with fast falling speed to create laser sounds, or low starting frequency with rising speed for powerup sounds.
